Adrian Hodges
Adrian Hodges specialises in issues of corporate responsibility as they relate to international business strategy and practice, and is a regular commentator on the development impacts of globalisation. He has managerial experience in business, local government and non-governmental organisations and is co-author of the best-seller on corporate responsibility 'Everybody's Business: Managing Risks and Opportunities in Today's Global Society' - published by Dorling Kindersley and The Financial Times.
He is currently Managing Director responsible for corporate and partnership development for The Prince of Wales Business International Leaders Forum (IBLF), the international not-for-profit organisation promoting business practices that produce business benefit and development gain.
Ayþegül Hatay
Ayþegül Hatay has worked as a consultant for the first CSR performers of Turkish private sector since 2004 and has given support on international standards about stakeholder engagement and CSR Reporting. Currently as a CSR Consultant, she is involved in coordination of Turkish companies’ CSR Management and Reporting processes. She manages a portfolio of corporate accounts among FMCG, Banking, Oil and Gas, B2B Industrial and telecommunication sectors. She also manages the CSR Certification Programs in Kadir Has University, Has CSR Academy as a trainer and training coordinator with the support of CSR Association Turkey. She is teaching about CSR since 2006 and she shares her experiences and knowledge in training sessions on international standards about CSR and Sustainability with hundreds of executives of Turkish private sector. Also coordinated and managed the full process of Accountability Rating Turkey 2007 process, which is an international methodology supported by AccountAbility, Ayþegül Hatay has a background of editorial management, translation and general management in various publications. She is a classical archaeologist and has a master degree on Social Anthropology.
Bryane Michael
Bryane Michael is currently at Linacre College Oxford; where he has spent the last 5 years teaching CSR-related issues in economics and management. He also serves as a senior advisor to the EU and the UN -- advising countries such as Turkey on a national CSR strategy and countries like Ukraine, Moldova and Macedonia on using CSR regulations to improve trade competitiveness. He has advised the OECD on Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) policy for Turkey and has trained companies such as Aviva, AK Bankasi, Aygaz, Basari, Halk Bankesi, the Capital Markets Board (Turkey), and done cross-party training in CSR (involving reps from AKP, CHP, and DSP among others
David Murphy
David Murphy recently joined the UN System Staff College (UNSSC) in Turin as Senior Associate with responsibility for the programme cluster 'Partnerships and the Global Compact'. He previously worked for the New Academy of Business for seven years. His international research and consultancy experience includes projects for: the International Labour Organisation (ILO), United Nations Volunteers (UNV), UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), UK Department for International Development (DFID), and the British Council. David has a PhD in International Policy from the University of Bristol, which focused on business-NGO partnerships for sustainable development. He also has extensive development NGO management experience in West Africa and Canada . His most recent book is "Something to Believe In: Creating Trust and Hope in Organisations" (Greenleaf 2003). David is a member of the Amnesty International ( Italy ) Business Group on Human Rights. He is also a visiting lecturer at the University of Bath , Lancaster University and the University of Bristol.
George Dallas
George S. Dallas is Managing Director and Global Practice Leader in Standard & Poor's Governance Services unit, based in London.
Prior to this assignment Mr. Dallas was head of Global Emerging Markets for Standard & Poor's. He also has served as regional head for Standard & Poor's Ratings Services in Europe and has been head of Standard & Poor's London office and practice leader of the company's international corporate ratings group. Mr. Dallas is editor of the book Governance and Risk (McGraw Hill, 2004), and has written numerous articles and several book chapters on themes relating to corporate governance and international finance.
Mr. Dallas holds a B.A., With Distinction, from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from the Haas School of the University of California at Berkeley.
Güray Karacar, Coordinator of Corporate Governance Association of Turkey (TKYD)
Graduated from the University of Marmara Communication Sciences. After his stay in USA, he worked as a communication consultant for Orsa and Tribecca Communication Consultancy. He led a number of national programs “The School Milk Program” “Daytime Running Light” “Fight against street milk”. Hürriyet Magazine Group, Pegasus Airlines, Skoda Yüce Auto are the corporates that Karacar worked in different titles.
He became Coordinator of TKYD in 2003. Since this time, he has coordinated and overseen the execution of a range of corporate governance initiatives throughout Turkey. Both organizing and presenting at governance workshops and related events, Karacar has developed a firmly grounded knowledge of the principles of corporate governance and the unique needs of Turkey’s private sector in seeking to uphold them. In addition to the above, he served as National Program Coordinator for United Nations Development Program from 2005 - 2007. He is a member of TUSIAD (Turkish Businessmen and Industrialists Association) Corporate Governance Committee since 2004.
He is married and has three children.
Dr. Melsa Ararat
Dr. Melsa Ararat is an international advisor and an academic on Corporate Governance, Corporate Social Responsibility and Corporate Strategy.
She held various international management and board positions in Asia Pacific, Japan and Europe for over 15 years prior to returning to academia. Her focus in her professional career was on Strategic Initiatives, New Business Development and Joint Ventures. Dr. Ararat's current work focuses on the overlap between corporate governance, CSR and business strategy as well as on the corporate governance reforms in emerging economies. She was a member of the committees which developed TUSIAD's and Capital Market Board's CG Guidelines for Turkey. She is the initiator and the manager of Corporate Governance Forum of Turkey (CGFT) and a faculty member of the Graduate School of Management at Sabanci University .
Peter Whates

Peter Whates has been an adviser, author and speaker on corporate social responsibility, business ethics and cross-sector partnership for more than 20 years. Peter has advised on more than 50 major projects for a diverse group of companies, charities and public authorities including Barclays, Shell UK, Whitbread, BP and the Welsh Assembly Government. He has devised a number of award-winning CRM and CSR programmes including 'Laing Helping Homeless People', 'Whitbread Brighter Futures' and the 'Barclays Chairman's Awards'. Peter is the author of several handbooks and is currently writing a book on CSR with Marjorie Thompson to be published by Gower. He is also editing a book on 'Business Ethics in the 21st century Organisation' for the British Standards Institute. He has spoken at well in excess of 100 conferences and seminars, including a number as chair.
Prof. Ronen Shamir
Ronen Shamir is a professor of sociology and law at Tel Aviv University, Israel. A graduate of Northwestern University, Shamir has also served on the Board of Trustees of the Law and Society Association, and spent time as a visiting scholar at the American Bar Foundation. Author of three books and many academic articles, Shamir has been studying the development of corporate social responsibility in the last few years. His forthcoming book with the University of Chicago Press offers a broad overview of the way CSR develops as a field of expertise and of the way CSR is applied in various national settings. Shamir taught at Sabanci University in the fall semester of 2004-2005.
Richard Howitt
Richard Howitt is the chair of CSR Turkey's advisory board.
Richard Howitt is a Labour Member of the European Parliament for the East of England, first elected in 1994.
He is Vice Chair of the Human Rights Sub Committee, a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Human Rights, Common Security and Defence Policy and is the Labour European Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs. Richard is a member of the EU-Turkey Joint Parliamentary Committee, and was recently a member of the Parliament mission to the UN Human Rights Commission in Geneva, and to monitor the Palestinian Presidential elections.
He is also a member of the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs, and is European Parliament Spokesperson on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). He successfully led the preparation of the Parliamentary report on CSR, which represented a major step towards establishing international regulation for multinational companies. Richard has also been European Parliament representative at the EU Multistakeholder Forum on CSR,and has organised annual hearings in the European Parliament on the impact of European enterprises on developing countries.
Serra Titiz
As a social entrepreneur, Serra Titiz has been working on NGOs capacity building and Corporate Responsibility issues since 2003. She worked with youth, with women and vocational groups at large NGOs at managerial levels, has participated to international programs on NGOs and Civic Activism. Her work has always been a reflection of social innovation and social entrepreneurship.
Today, Serra Titiz is the founder and the managing director of Mikado Consulting Ltd Co. in Istanbul, Turkey. Mikado Consulting provides strategic counsel and consulting services in social and economic development to civil society organizations, private sector companies and governmental and international organizations.
Serra has devoted herself in maximizing social impact through establishing sustainable structures and through creating synergies among private sector, academia and civil society organizations.
Besides her work at Mikado Consulting, Serra serves as senior export at various UNDP projects.
She holds IEMA-approved “International CSR Practitioner” Accreditation, “GRI Sustainability Reporting” Certificate and is an alumni of INSEAD’s Social Entrepreneurship Program.
Serra obtained her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Bosphorus University, Istanbul; then obtained her masters degree in Business Administration from Aston University, Birmingham, England.
Thiery Sanders
Thierry Sanders, Programme Manager Business in Development for the Dutch National Committe for Sustainable Development in Amsterdam. Thierry has set up and coordinates a programme that aims to engage Dutch companies in reducing poverty through entrepreneurship in developing countries. This programme has launched the world's first business plan competition combining poverty reduction and profit. It has also engaged Dutch designers in improving product design in emerging markets. The programme also acts as a matchmaker between NGO development projects and companies interested in investing in them. It publishes research such as the world's first guide for venture capital funds investing in developing countries, containing 260 listed funds. Thierry Sanders has lived in Latin America, the Middle East and Asia. Has advised numerous companies on their CSR policies and has worked in the Dutch financial, IT and carbon emissions trading sectors.
